A GREEN AND FAIR DRENTHE.    YES WE CAN!

In what kind of Drenthe do you want to live?

  • Do we have fast and safe cycling tracks and public transport?
  • Do farmers grow organic crops for an honest price?
  • Do we produce our own energy with solar panels, windmills and geothermal heat?
  • Do we all have the benefit of affordable housing?
  • Are we enjoying the peace and quiet of nature?
  • Does everyone count and do we all stand together?
  • Do residents participate in decision-making through community councils?

It’s up to you! On March 15.

Wednesday, March 15. Election day.

We will be electing the members of ‘Provinciale Staten’, our regional authority, the Drenthe Parliament. It is responsible for landscape and nature, nitrogen, traffic and transport, cycling tracks, climate, energy, social policies and inclusion in our province.

GroenLinks is on course for participating in the Executive of the Drenthe Parliament again – just like it did in the past four years. We want a greener and fairer Drenthe.

And on a national level too we are committed to a better future for The Netherlands. On March 15 it’s up to you who will be in charge, in the province as well as in the Senate.

Voting GroenLinks will help to get Henk Nijmeijer (Assen) into the Senate.

Elections for the Water Council (Waterschap)*  – vote Water Natuurlijk.

*The Water Council is charged with regional water management

A climate proof Drenthe?

YES WE CAN!

We are experiencing a climate crisis. We need to say goodbye to coal, oil and gas. That will not be simple, but it is absolutely vital. GroenLinks is committed to tackling climate disruption – fair, affordable and doable for everyone.

  • We call a climate emergency.
  • We will invest in home insulation and panels-on-the-roof.
  • We will start a provincial energy company, together with energy cooperatives and municipalities.
  • We will provide grants to households to make their homes more sustainable.
  • We will produce renewable energy. Where possible we will build solar plants, windmills and energy storage systems. Local communities will benefit from this.
  • We will establish a training fund (vmbo/mbo) for the energy engineering branch.

A healthy Drenthe?

YES WE CAN!

Air and water pollution are highly hazardous to our health. We want to reduce the damage to nature and health by lowering nitrogen emissions, and by cutting down the use of chemicals and fertilizer. Healthier products. And good water and soil quality.

We will improve public transport by extending the bus network and adding railway stations.

We will stimulate bicycle use by creating high-quality cycleways and cycle highways.

We will reduce CO2- and nitrogen emmissions: Groningen Airport Eelde will become a residential area, we will not widen the N34 and the speed limit on provincial roads will go down from 80 to 60 km/h.

We will assist farmers to adopt nature friendly agriculture.

We will create new prospects for our farmers.

We will use agricultural land for healthy products, not for the growing of bulbs.

A green Drenthe?

YES WE CAN!

Drenthe is a green province. We are living amidst nature and farmland, through which small brooks are running. We want to keep Drenthe green: improve biodiversity and promote nature friendly farming.

  • We will protect and boost nature.
  • We will speed up finishing the Drenthe part of the Natuur Netwerk Nederland.
  • We want more diversity in plants and animals and will help protect our farmland birds.
  • We will build water retention areas, in Drenthe’s higher regions and in downstream areas.
  • We will make an action plan against the dehydration of nature and farmland.
  • We will reach the European water quality goals (KRW) in 2027.
  • The province will improve and adjust the management of soil and water quality.

A fair Drenthe?

YES WE CAN!

In Drenthe we look out for each other. Neighbourliness (Dutch: naoberschap) is what we call this. Everyone has the right to adequate housing. Nobody should be left out as a result of poverty or deprivation. We cherish our democracy and we fight far-right politics.

  • We will create good and affordable housing for everyone. We need rent reduction.
  • An Impulsteam assists municipalities to create adequate housing.
  • We are committed to a liveable rural Drenthe: strong villages and neighbourhoods, a healthy living environment and better public transport, care and education.
  • We will fight poverty, loneliness and illiteracy. We will adopt a programme to help underprivileged children.
  • We are committed to provide compensation for the soaring costs of living.
  • We will create Community Councils.
  • We will make it possible for young people to participate in decision making.

A green and fair Drenthe.

YES WE CAN!

We are ready for it.
